PT 141 and using it as a nasal sprayer

by Joe 29. August 2009 12:46

I know that the guy that wrote the article in Mens Journal snorted it in the powder form, but there is no way i'm going to do that.  So I purchased a bottle of Afrin nasal spray and I suppose you could use saline nasal spray. Anyway, i took a syringe and filled it with 5ml of the afrin, then i injected that into the pt141, or rather i injected 1ml of the afrin in the bottle, i put the other 4ml into the sprayer i purchased. Then after it was mixed up i drew that up and added it to the afrin bottle as well. End results, i had 5ml of afrin with 10mg of PT 141 mixed in it..

The sprayer dispenses a small mist that is .1 ml of fluid which is .2mg per activation of the sprayer of pt141 so for me I get really good results using the 10 activations of the sprayer which = to 2mg of the pt141.. I put 5 in one nostral and 5 pumps in the other nostral.

Update...

From Palatin:  It also makes sense to change to the subcutaneous route of administration. bremelanotide (PT-141) (bremelanotide) was originally developed as a subcutaneous drug. Switching to an intranasal route makes it easier to use, however, the nasal mucosa is extremely vascular. I can see how some patients can experience a sudden rapid absorption which could lead to increased side effects. Subcutaneous administration likely has a slower, more controlled absorption. It also lends to the development of a depot formulation. I also don't think a subcutaneous route would necessarily detract from its use since many of my ED patients give themselves intracavernosal (penile) injections of vasoactive agents.
